The nearly 150 year old gracious Thames Club is the oldest Social Club existing in Connecticut and ranks third in all of New England.
Whether you choose one of the two formal dining areas or the more casual card rooms, or attend a business meeting held in the club's conference rooms, you'll find meals at the Thames Club always graciously served.
Whether you're participating in special events, dining at the club before an evening at the theater, or meeting colleagues or clients for lunch, the elegant surroundings of the Thames Club provide the perfect location.
Considering a Thames Club Membership?
We welcome you, a potential new member, to our Club website. Please look around! The Club is based on developing friendships with interesting people who are engaged in the life of the city and the region, in a downtown setting where activity, comradery, and reflection have met cordially for more than a century.
Our Club’s urban location is at the hub of Southeastern Connecticut’s arts, culture, and professional life. Whether you are an up-and-coming or established businessperson or professional...or a second-career retiree whose work and volunteer career has spanned many years and still contributing to regional life with action and advice, the Thames Club is where friends meet.
We were established in 1869, and our present Club House was built in 1906. It’s a beautiful and elegant Club House, and a solid and pleasant place where private meetings and spirited debate can coexist cheerfully. Members and guests enjoy lunch and conversation on weekdays, formal and pub dining most evenings, First Friday cocktails, ladies lunches, frequent evening events, and club gatherings with seasonal themes. Our two bowling alleys offer friendly competition and an opportunity to meet informally during the week; conference rooms are available for business discussions away from the distractions of the office.
If you are relatively new to our area, you will find the Club a great introduction to the people and the full breadth of experience offered by residence in Southeastern Connecticut. If you’re a longtime resident, you will enjoy meeting new friends.
We hope that you will not hesitate to contact us and arrange to meet a few of our diverse members and take a tour of our beautiful club. If you are interested in the people and activities of our region, you will find a warm welcome!

On Saturday, 9/20, members of the TC took a trip to NYC to attend a play (A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder) and enjoy a delicious pre-theater dinner at "Le Rivage", a fine french restaurant. The play was hilarious and apres-play at the bar at "Molloys and Porcellis'" by Rockefellar Center was fine ending. Here are some photos from the days events.
